When the 14 day positive test rate is above 5% in Story County (according to coronavirus.iowa.gov), the library returns to PHASE 2 of our reopening plan and is open for browsing by appointment only.
When the 14 day positive test rate is below 5%, the library enters PHASE 3 of our reopening plan and is open for grab-and-go browsing.

High School Student Clerk: Are you looking for more than just a job? Put your skills to work in a hub of the community as a Nevada Public Library Student Clerk! If you love interacting with people and you’re great at noticing things that other people miss, this is the job for you. You’ll help library patrons by checking items in and out, assisting with finding books and other library materials, and answering a variety of questions. You’ll also get a first look at new library materials as you prep them for the shelves, and you’ll put away materials after they’ve been checked in. Shifts are after school until 8:00 PM 1-2 evenings a week and occasional day time hours on Saturdays.

Library Director: The Nevada Public Library is looking for an engaged, forward thinking Director with outstanding leadership skills and professionalism, joined with their desire and ability to provide a high level of excellence in fostering relationships with and serving the community.
The Director reports to the Board of Trustees and works with a dedicated staff. He/She directs all administrative, professional, and technical library activities.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Financial management and budgetary process
- Management of Library personnel
- Create, develop, and implement innovative solutions and initiatives
- Develop effective and positive working relationships with community leaders, city leaders, Board of Trustees, and Library staff.

Happy National Library Week! Complete 5-in-a-row on a Library Bingo sheet, bring it back to the library, and get a fun prize! All ages are welcome to participate and prizes will be available through the month of April. Bingo sheets are available HERE and at the front entrance of the library during open hours.
In-person! Outdoors! Celebrate Earth Day with us and help us clean up an important part of our community. We'll provide trash bags, gloves, and a place to toss the garbage you pick up. Please follow social distancing guidelines while participating in this event.
April is National Poetry Month! Check out a book of poetry or a verse novel and/or try your hand at creating your own poem with our poetry kits, available outside the front entrance of the library during our open hours. Want to share your work? Let us know and we'll make a copy and put it in our window.
$1 Grab Bags
Grab bags of withdrawn library materials will be available for a $1 donation. Patrons can request any combination of formats, including fiction, large print, children's books, audiobooks, and music CDs.
Although the library building is closed for browsing, we don't want you to miss out on any of the resources we have to offer. We have tons of great stuff available for you at the front entrance during curbside hours:
