Rules

  • Read one book a month & log your progress on the reading log

  • There are 24 categories: you can read either a monthly category (in the month it is advertised) OR you can read a bonus category

  • Books, audiobooks & eBooks all count

  • A different book must be read for each category

  • You can sign up any time of the year as long as you finish 12 books before the end of 2026. If you don’t register until November, you can still read 12 Bonus books before the end of 2026.

Anyone that reads 12 books from either the monthly or bonus categories and logs their progress will win a prize at the end of the year. Avid readers who read more than 12 books will be congratulated but will not receive additional prizes.

Completed logs can be turned in: 12/01/2026 to 1/15/2027

Monthly Categories

Every month we will announce the monthly category in our Reading Challenge Facebook group “NPL Reads 2026”, on our social media channels, and on our website. Additionally, we will have a special display near our Large Print Books with specially curated titles to help you find a great read. This year we will also include a QR code that you can scan on the display to see more titles. You DO need to complete the monthly category in the month it is announced.

New Book Club

New in 2026 we have added a new book club called “There Will Be Books” as part of the adult reading challenge. The book club will be held on the last Friday of the month during the noon lunch hour. This will give you an opportunity to bring in and briefly discuss the book you read for the monthly category (or a bonus category book) with other readers. It will be an informal hour of discussion and you may bring your own lunch to enjoy during the discussion period. We want to give everyone the opportunity to discover new authors, new books, or even a new genre that you never considered. Each month as a reward for participating in the book club we will have little prizes that will be announced the day of the book club. Those prizes will only be available at book club so be sure to join us.

Book club will be February 27th at Noon in the Library Meeting Room.
