Vita Tax Preparation Appointments

The Nevada Public Library is hosting VITA tax preparation appointments this tax season.

Tax appointments will open up for scheduling Monday, January 22, 2025. 

Starting that day, tax appointments can be made:

• by calling (515) 268-5145

Additional Information:

• The current maximum income limit for VITA is $64,000.
• Appointments will be held in-person.
• No farm schedules, rental income, or virtual currency trades (bitcoin, etc).

This service is provided in partnership with United Way of Story County, Iowa State University, and Ames Public Library.

Tax Forms at the Library

The library has Federal and State 1040 Forms and instructions available for patrons in both English and Spanish.  We also have the 1040-SR for seniors forms.  These forms and instructions are located inside the library in front of the circulation desk.  We can print other specialized forms for $.20/page.

2024  Key Tax Dates

Jan. 12 : IRS Free File service opens to prepare tax year 2023 returns

Jan. 29: Filing season start date for individual tax returns.

Jan. 31: Due date for employers to send W-2 forms.

April 15: Federal filing deadline for tax year 2023.

April 30: Iowa filing deadline for tax year 2023.
