Welcome to the Nevada Public Library e-newsletter for November.
Life often feels so much busier in the fall. Maybe it’s school events or fall sports. Perhaps we haven’t yet fully made the transition from those ‘lazy days of summer’. Or it could be that we are preparing for guests over the holidays, or revving up to travel ourselves. Whatever the reason, it seems that there are extra tasks that need to be done and less time to do them in. In recognition of this, we have come up with a couple of ways to hopefully make life easier for you as you interact with the library.
If you suddenly realize at 10pm that your books are due back at the library and you forgot to renew them, don’t panic! Simply go to the library website and click on the new ‘Renew your library materials’ button near the top of the homepage. (www.nevada.lib.ia.us).
If you want to keep up with all the events and happenings at the library, you can check on the calendar on the right side of the website. To make it easier to keep in touch, you can also visit our new Facebook page. We post upcoming events, new materials added to the collection and other useful information. There’s a handy feed from Facebook at the base of the website homepage. We’d also love for you to become a Facebook ‘fan’ of the library. ( www.nevada.lib.ia.us )
If you are a Middle or High Schooler who loves to read, or know of one, we would like your help. Join Mary at the next Teen Advisory Group on Wednesday, November 4th from 3:30 pm and help to choose new books to add to the library collection. Snacks will be provided.
At noon, on Monday to Friday, November 16th to 20th, enjoy some music with your lunch at our ever popular ‘Musical Lunch Breaks’. The music is performed by some very talented students from the Nevada Middle and High Schools. Bring a sack lunch, sit back and relax to some wonderful tunes.
The Library will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th, and Friday, November 27th. The library will re-open at 10am on Saturday, November 28th. There will be no after school story times during Thanksgiving week. Winter weather…. The library follows the guidelines of the Nevada Public Schools and will cancel story time if school is cancelled due to weather.
As always, happy reading…
PS Don’t forget the Friends of the Library book sale is on Saturday, October 31st from 10am to 3pm. Come and choose from a wide selection of used books at a great price. There are many books on tape, large print books and VHS videos for sale. This is a great way to support your library and find some bargains.
