Youth Services Librarian Job Posting

Nevada Public Library seeks an energetic, enthusiastic, and flexible full-time Youth Services Librarian to join our busy, fast-paced library. The ideal candidate is excited about providing outstanding service to youth and their caregivers, is passionate about children, teens, and books, and enjoys planning and preparing programming for ages birth to 18. The individual best suited for this position must have knowledge of developmental stages, current trends in libraries, services and materials for children and young adults, and social media platforms.

Responsibilities include: planning and implementing all youth programming, including the Summer Reading Program, storytimes, book clubs, and class visits; selecting, ordering, and weeding books for children and teens under the supervision of the library director; assisting patrons in the children’s and young adult areas or seeking materials for youth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree

Education Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in a field relating to library operations, children’s literature, and/or child development. Work toward a Master’s Degree in Library Science or other graduate coursework relating to children’s literature.

Experience Preferred: At least one year of related experience in public library operation, specifically relating to youth programs or equivalent.

HOURS AND PAY: 40 hours per week. Schedule will include opening, closing, and weekend shifts, with off-hours programming needs as necessary. $18.44 per hour. The position earns sick, vacation, and holiday leave. It is eligible for benefits as laid out in the full job description.
